Bonnie (Rogers) Bergsma '81
Bonnie Bergsma (Rogers), Class of 1981, excelled in swimming and gymnastics during her career at Badger High School.
She competed in gymnastics for only one year, her senior year, and qualified for the state meet as a sectional champion in the All-Around Competition. However, an injury prevented her from competing in the state meet.
Bonnie was a standout swimmer, earning four varsity letters. She was a four-time sectional champion and set various school records throughout her career. In state competition, Bonnie finished in 8th place in the 100 yard butterfly her freshman year, 2nd place in the 50 yard freestyle and 5th place in the 100 yard butterfly her sophomore year, 12th place in the 50 yard freestyle her junior year and qualified for the 50 yard freestyle during her final year.
Bonnie’s outstanding high school career led to a four-year swimming scholarship to the University of Illinois – Champaign, where she earned All-Conference Big Ten honors and was a qualifier for the NCAA Championship meet.

Mark Braden, '70
Mark Braden, Badger Class of 1970, was a three-sport standout during his four years at Badger High School. Mark was a 3 sport athlete all 4 years of high school, competing in football, basketball, and track and field. Mark excelled in football, and he was a two-way starter on both the offensive and defensive lines during both his junior and senior season. Mark earned Southern Lakes First Team All Conference honors during the 1969 season. After graduating from Badger, Mark attended the University of Wisconsin where he played on the freshman football team in the fall of 1970 and then moved on to the varsity football team for the 1971 season. After retiring from football, Mark focused his attention on his schooling and becoming a dentist. His passion for sports continued as he became an official for football and basketball, working many high profile high school and collegiate tournament games. In 2015, Mark was inducted into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame for his involvement with officiating for the conference. At the time he stepped down from football officiating in 2011, Braden had accumulated 26 years as a football official, 17 years as a basketball official and 17 years as supervisor of women’s basketball officials for the WIAC. Mark owns a dental practice in Lake Geneva, where he continues to be an influence at Badger with his support of Badger Athletics. He established the Badger Booster Club in 1986 and served as the first president. Mark has contributed to the Badger community with financial support for over 30 years, helping a variety of programs along the way. He currently resides in Lake Geneva.

Dick Burnett '58
Dick Burnett, Class of 1958, a three sport letterman for the Lake Geneva High School Resorters, was known as the "scoring ace," setting multiple school and conference scoring records in basketball during his four-year career (1955-58).
In three years as a varsity starter in basketball, he set the school record with a total of 1,013 career points, scoring 439 of those his final year. This record still stands, as his senior year was the last year of Lake Geneva High School before becoming part of Badger High School in 1959. He also set the single game scoring record, scoring 43 points in a conference game against Mukwonago.
He finished his senior year by being selected to the Southern Lakes Conference All-Conference squad and was named Conference Player of the Year by the Southern Lakes Sportswriters Association.
Upon graduation, Burnett went on to play basketball for Ripon College, later transferring to UW-Whitewater. As of 2015, Dick Burnett resides in St. Charles, Missouri.

Jenn (Jaeger) Chironis '03
Jenn Chironis (Jaeger), Class of 2003, was a two-sport standout in volleyball and track and field, earning nine varsity letters during her Badger High School career. She also participated in basketball for two years, earning a varsity letter her sophomore year. In volleyball, Jenn was a three time 1st Team All-Conference selection and was named the team MVP during each of those three years. She was selected as a team captain her senior year.
In track and field, Jenn qualified for the state meet her junior year in the 300 hurdles and 100 hurdles, finishing in 3rd place in the 100 hurdles. Her senior year, Jenn qualified for the state meet in the 100 hurdles and finished in 2nd place. She was a two time conference champion and was named team MVP both her junior and senior year in track and field.
Upon graduation, Jenn competed in volleyball and track and field at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and earned 6 varsity letters. In volleyball, she earned 4 of those letters and was a captain of the team her senior year. She helped lead the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse to a WIAC championship in 2003. Jenn was a two year letter winner in track at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, earning those letters during her junior and senior year.

Michael Clifford '8
Mike Clifford, Class of 1983, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and track and field, earning nine varsity letters during his Badger High School career. He was a two year letter winner in football, earning First Team All-Conference honors as quarterback his senior year. In basketball, Mike earned three varsity letters. His senior year, he earned first team All-Conference status and was a member of the Academic All-State team. He was a starter on the 1982 state tournament team. That same basketball team also won conference, regional and sectional championships. Mike was a four-time letter winner in track and field. He was the 1983 conference and sectional champion in the 800 meter run, thus qualifying him for the state track and field meet. He still holds the school record in the 800 meter run. His senior year, he was also the class president and co-valedictorian. After graduation, Mike attended the University of Chicago and competed in both football and basketball. He won two letters in football and was a four year letter winner in basketball, earning 2nd team All-Conference status during the 1987 season. Mike was also the recipient of the University of Chicago’s 1987 Amos Alonzo Stagg Medal, which is awarded to the university’s top senior athlete.

Brian Dahle '92
Brian Dahle, Class of 1992, participated in golf, basketball, and soccer during his career at Badger High School. Golf was where Brian truly stood above the rest. During his senior year, he was crowned Division 1 State Champion at the WIAA State Golf Meet. That same year, Brian was named the Wisconsin State High School Golfer of the Year. He was twice named to the 1st Team All-State golf team and also a two-time captain for the Badger squad. Brian was also crowned sectional champion during his junior and senior years and finished in 11th place at the State Golf Meet during his junior year. His single season scoring average of 37.6 during his senior campaign still stands as the lowest single season scoring average in Badger history. Upon graduation, Brian went on to become a Head P.G.A. Professional.

Aaron Dobberstein '93
Aaron Dobberstein, Class of 1993, is considered one of the top multiple sport athletes in Badger’s history. He participated in football, basketball, and baseball, earning eleven out of a possible twelve varsity letters during his career at Badger. Aaron received the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award and was a four-year Academic Athlete.
In football, he was the starting varsity quarterback for three years, earning All-Conference status in each of those years and also All-County status as a junior and senior. He was also selected Offensive Team Captain his senior year. On the hard court,
Aaron can be considered one of the top basketball players of his era, finishing his career as the All Time Leading Scorer in Badger history with 1,699 points. He was named Most Dedicated Player and earned All-Conference status in each of his four years as a varsity starter. During his senior year, Aaron was selected Team Captain, named Honorable Mention All State, and selected to play in the State All Star game.
In baseball, he was a four-year varsity starter who was selected Team Captain his senior year and also named to the All-Conference team as a shortstop.

Tim Fitzgerald '02
Tim Fitzgerald, Class of 1996, was an outstanding golfer during his career at Badger High School. Tim was a key member on three state qualifying golf teams. The 1993 team finished 13th at the state meet, the 1994 team was crowned State Champions, and the 1995 team finished as runner-up in Division 1. Tim finished in 6th place as an individual at the state meet during both his sophomore and junior years before finally being crowned the 1996 WIAA state individual golf champion in Division 1 during his senior season. To date, Tim’s career average of 39.5 remains the lowest career average in Badger High School golf history. He went onto become a 2000 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison after receiving a degree in history.

Dan Floberg '61
Dan Floberg, Class of 1961, was a three sport athlete playing basketball, baseball and golf. For two years he was a starter on the baseball team, winning the Southern Lakes Conference his senior year. Floberg was offered a baseball try-out in the summer 1959 with the Cleveland Indians. He was also a three-sport starter on the basketball team and was a two time selection to the Southern Lakes Conference All-Conference team during his junior and senior years.
Both years, he led the conference in scoring and rebounding, and led Badger High School to the conference championship. The Badgers finished that year ranked 4th in the state. At the time, Floberg was considered by many to be the best athlete to ever come out of the local high school.
He was offered a full scholarship for basketball by Michigan State University where he played from 1961-64, graduating with a Business Degree. Floberg currently resides in Arlington, Texas.

Bill Germann '63
Bill Germann, Class of 1963, was a 4 year letter winner in baseball, a 3 year letter winner in football, a 2 year letter winner in wrestling, and earned one letter while participating in basketball. He earned a total of 10 varsity letters during his Badger High School career. While playing football at Badger, Bill was named to the All-Conference team 3 years and was named the Conference Player of the Year after senior campaign. He led the team in tackles and was also selected to the All-State football team. Bill was also a standout in baseball at Badger. He was a 4 year starter and was selected as the team captain his final year. His senior year, he was selected by the entire Badger coaching staff as the outstanding athlete, thus earning him the American Legion Award for the best athlete. After graduation, Bill attended Winona State University in Minnesota and competed in both football and baseball. He was a 3 year starter in baseball and a 4 year starter on the football team. During his freshmen year, he caught the touchdown pass that won Winona State University the NCAA National Championship over Michigan Tech. This was his first of 2 National Championship's he won while attending Winona State University. As of 2006, Bill resides in Big Fork, Montana.

Doug Gerber '46
Doug Gerber, Class of 1946, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and tennis, earning eleven varsity letters during his high school career. He was a four-year letter winner in football, earning All-State honors as running back and linebacker his senior year. Upon graduation, he played one year of football at Marquette University and then three years at LaCrosse where he was a three-year letter winner and All-Conference player his senior year. In basketball, Doug collected four varsity letters. He was a member of the 1942-43 and 1944-45 conference champion teams. The 1944-45 squad also claimed a Regional Championship. Doug was also a three year letter winner in tennis. His senior year, he qualified for the WIAA State Tennis Meet. After his college years, Doug returned to Badger to serve 26 years as Athletic Director. During his tenure at Badger, the athletic program expanded from 6 varsity sports to 17 varsity sports and 39 teams at various levels. In 1984, Doug was recognized as the District 6 State Athletic Director of the Year. While working at Badger, he also coached football, basketball, gymnastics, track, golf and baseball.

Steve Gerber '01
Steve Gerber, Class of 1972, participated in football, basketball, baseball and track during his career at Badger High School.
He opened his senior campaign by being named the Southern Lakes Conference Most Valuable Player in football. He was also named Co-Captain that year and selected as a First Team All-Conference Tight End and Linebacker.
Moving to the hardwood, Steve was a key member of the 1971 Southern Lakes Conference Champion Basketball team. He was awarded two varsity letters in basketball during his Badger career.
His success followed him to the diamond, where he was named to the Southern Lakes All-Conference team at first base and also as a pitcher, along with being the team Co-Captain. Steve earned three varsity letters as a member of the Badger baseball squad.
During his final year, he was awarded the Badger Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. Steve continued his success while attending UW-Whitewater where he was a four-time letterwinner in both football and baseball. In 2000, he was inducted to the UW-Whitewater Athletic Hall of Fame.

Howard "Pete" Grabbert '47
Howard “Pete” Grabbert, Class of 1947, was a four-time letter winner in football, four-time letter winner in basketball, and two-time letter winner in golf. Pete also participated in baseball at Lake Geneva High School. He was co-captain of the football and basketball teams his senior year. Pete was one of the leading scorers of the SWANI League (Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois League) during his senior year of basketball. He was also the only player from the SWANI League to be selected to the All-Star South Football Squad to play in the High School All-Star Football Game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Upon graduation, Pete played seven years with the Red Devils semi pro football team. He was selected as one of the top eleven all-time players in Red Devils history (1919-1955) and is the 3rd leading scorer in team history with 199 points. In 1954, Pete kicked a team record nine extra points in one game, breaking the old record of five established in 1931.

Bob Gruner '75
Bob Gruner, Class of 1975, participated football, was a two-time letterwinner in cross-country, three-time letterwinner in track, and four-time letter winner in wrestling.
Wrestling was where Bob made his name known. He was a Conference Champion as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was crowned Regional Champion during his junior and senior campaigns and also advanced to the state meet as Sectional Champion during his final year. His trip to state could not have been more memorable, as he returned home as the 1975 State Champion at 138 pounds with an undefeated season mark of 32-0.
Bob received the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. Upon graduation, he attended UW-Parkside to continue his wrestling career. By the time he left UW-Parkside, he had earned five All-American titles, won a NAIA National Championship in 1979, and was later inducted to the NAIA National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Wisconsin NAIA Athletic Hall of Fame and the UW-Parkside Athletic Hall of Fame.

Scott Hintz '72
Scott Hintz, Class of 1972, was a three-sport standout in football, wrestling and tennis, earning nine varsity letters during his Badger High School career.
He was a two-year varsity football player, being selected to the All-Conference team both years and named co-captain during his senior year.
On the wrestling mat, Scott was two-time Conference Champion, two-time Regional Champion, Sectional Champion and a State Champion in 1972 at 132 pounds with a 31-1 record. He lettered all four years of wrestling and was named Team Captain during his senior campaign.
As a key member of the tennis team, Scott was the undefeated Conference Champion in #2 doubles during his junior year, and #1 doubles during his senior year.
He continued to compete in wrestling and tennis in college. He placed 6th in Nationals and was two-time conference champion in wrestling and was voted MVP in wrestling and tennis.

David Jooss '99
David Jooss, Class of 1999, was a three-sport standout in soccer, basketball, and baseball, earning nine varsity letters during his high school career. He was a three-year letter winner in all three sports and was named captain of all three his senior year.
David was a 1st Team All-Conference selection his senior year in soccer and baseball. It was in basketball that he truly was a standout. He was a 1st Team All-Conference selection in both his Junior and Senior year and was also selected to the WBCA All-Star Team in 1999.
He helped lead the Badgers to the 1999 WIAA State Basketball Tournament and was selected as a Honorable Mention All-State player. David was named the American Legion Athlete of the Year for Badger High School his senior year. Upon graduation, he played four years of basketball at Carroll College and ended his career as the 5th all-time assist leader at Carroll.
David resides in Lake Geneva and is the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Badger High School

Richard Kahn, '60
Richard Kahn, Class of 1960, earned 9 varsity letters while participating in football, basketball and baseball at both Lake Geneva High School and Badger High School. He was a member of the 2nd graduating class of Badger High School. Dick is still considered by many as one of the best pound for pound athletes in Badger history. Dick was the quarterback of the football team, earning First Team All Conference honors during the 1959 season. He played point guard on the basketball team, where he led the team in scoring, and earned Second Team All Conference honors during his senior season. During this season he presented Badger High School with the first basketball championship trophy in school history by winning the Regional championship. Finally, Dick was the starting second baseman on the 1959 Southern Lake Conference champions baseball team. Dick continued his athletic success at the college level, playing both varsity football and basketball for the United States Merchant Marine Academy. This culminated in Dick being selected as the recipient of the Academy’s Alumni “Esprit de Corps” award. Dick continues to be active in sports, serving as a basketball official. Dick currently resides in Orange County, California.

Wilbert Kennedy '84
Wilbert Kennedy, Class of 1984, was a 3 sport standout while at Badger High School. Wilbert earned 2 varsity football letters, 2 varsity wrestling letters, and 3 varsity letters in baseball while attending Badger High School. Wilbert was a team leader serving as captain of the football, baseball and wrestling teams. He earned All Conference recognition in football during his junior and senior seasons, as well as earning All Conference honors in baseball his senior year. Wilbert was a WIAA State Qualifier in wrestling, leading the team in wins during the 1982-83 season. Wilbert continued his athletic success attending UW-Stout where he was a 4 year letterman on the football team. During his time at Stout, Wilbert was named Honorable Mention All Conference in the WSOL in 1986, and 2nd Team All Conference during the 1987 and 1988 seasons while earning Preseason All American recognition prior to the 1988 season. Wilbert continued playing football with the Racine Raiders earning All American honors 10 times, and being a Midwest Football League All Star on 4 occasions. Wilbert continued to impact the Lake Geneva community by coaching youth football with the Lake Geneva Cowboys. Wilbert currently resides in Burlington, Wisconsin.

Peter Krien, '13
Peter Krien, Class of 2013, was a two-sport standout in football and baseball during his time at Badger High School. He earned three varsity letters in football and three varsity letters in baseball. Peter also participated in wrestling his freshman year and finished his season with an impressive 30-9 record. As a baseball player, he was a three-year starter and a two-time selection to the All-Conference 1 st team and All-Region team. Football was where Peter truly stood out from the rest. He was a three-year starter and a two-time team captain. He was selected as the team offensive MVP both his junior and senior years. His senior year, Peter was selected as the Southern Lakes Conference Player of the Year. Peter finished his high school football career with 55 touchdowns and is currently the all-time leading rusher at Badger High School with 3,207 yards. Upon graduation, Peter attended UW-LaCrosse and was a member of their football team for four years. He was selected as team captain for the UW-LaCrosse football team both his junior and senior years.

Nancy (Dare) Kunkler '87
Nancy Dare Kunkler, Class of 1987, was a two-sport standout in cross country and track and field, earning eight varsity letters during her Badger High School career. In cross country, Nancy won the Southern Lakes Conference Championship during her sophomore, junior, and senior year. She qualified for the state meet three years in a row. In track and field, Nancy qualified for the state meet her freshmen year in the 3200 meter run, her sophomore year in the 1600 meter run, and her junior year in the 1600 meter relay. During her senior year, she was a two-time conference champion in both the 1600 meter run and 1600 meter relay. Upon graduation, Nancy competed in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field at the University of Oshkosh. In cross country, she qualified for the NCAA National Championships three of her four years and was a two-time All-American, finishing 14th and 18th at the Championships her junior and senior year. One of Nancy’s greatest accomplishments was winning the 1990 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 1500 meter run. She is the first person to ever win a national championship in an individual running event at the University of Oshkosh. Nancy earned 12 varsity letters at UW-Oshkosh and was a member of 12 WWIAC Conference Champion teams – 4 in cross country, 4 in indoor track and field, and 4 in outdoor track and field.

Weston Lagerhausen '08
Weston (Wes) Lagerhausen, Class of 2008, is considered one of the best swimmers to graduate from Badger High School. While at Badger High School, he was four-year varsity letter winner. Wes was a 5-time state champion and held the state record in the 200 Freestyle for 8 years. Nine-times he finished in the top three in various events at the WIAA State Swim Meet. Wes holds 7 school records and was a 3-year captain of the swim team at Badger High School. Wes was an integral part of the 2007 and 2008 Conference Championship teams, and the Sectional Championship team in 2008. He was honored by being named the Division 1 Swimmer of the Year after both his Junior and Senior years. Wes attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on scholarship and was a member of the men’s swim team for 4 years. He was a 2-time team captain for the Badgers and is a member of the 800 free relay team that still holds the record at the University of Wisconsin. Wes currently resides in Waukesha, WI.

Gene Lininger '69
Gene Lininger, Class of 1969, earned a total of ten of twelve possible varsity letters during his career at Badger High School. He was a three-year letter winner in both football and wrestling.
On the gridiron, Gene was named Team Tri-Captain, Team MVP and selected to the All-Conference team as a running back during his senior year. Although Gene enjoyed success in football and wrestling, it was track that brought him accolades.
As a sophomore, Gene was a key member of the 1967 Conference Champion track team, winning the 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash and the high jump. He was also a sectional champion in the 100-yard dash and high jump that year and finished 5th at the state meet in the 100-yard dash. During his junior year, Gene was sectional champion in the 220-yard dash and finished 2nd in the 100-yard dash. He advanced to the state meet and was crowned state champion in the 100-yard dash and runner-up in the 220-yard dash. As a senior, he repeated as conference champion in the 100-yard dash and still holds the Badger High School record in the 100-yard dash with a time of 10.1 seconds in which he set in 1968.

Arthur Edwin Lutcher, '62
Arthur E. Luchter, Class of 1962, was amongst the first group of graduates who attend ed Badger High School all four years. While attending Badger High School, Arthur made a name for himself as a two-sport, stand-out athlete. He earned two varsity letters in basketball and three varsity letters in track. During his junior year track season, Arthur earned the right to compete at the 1961 state competition and finished 5th in the high hurdles. At the conference meet his senior year, he placed 1st in the high hurdles, 2nd in the low hurdles, and 2nd in the high jump. He qualified for the state track meet in each of those events. Arthur finished 2nd in the high jump, 3rd in the high hurdles, and 4th in the low hurdles at the state meet and scored all of Badger’s team points that year. He finished his high school track career earning four state tournament medals. Upon graduating high school, Arthur attended the United States Air Force Academy and also competed on their track and field team, winning multiple events in 1962 and 1963.

Harry C. "Buddy" Melges, Jr. '48
Harry “Buddy” Melges Jr., Class of 1948, earned 6 varsity letters while attending Lake Geneva High School. He earned 3 varsity letters in football and 3 varsity letters in basketball. However, it is in the sport of sailing where Buddy truly made a name for himself. He is considered one of the most successful and respected sailors in the history of the sport. Buddy is perhaps best known internationally as the winning helmsman of Bill Koch’s America’s Cup yacht America3, which successfully defended the America’s Cup in 1992. He has won two Olympic medals (Bronze, Flying Dutchman Class, 1964; Gold, Soling Class, 1972) and more than 60 national and international sailing championships and iceboating titles. He is a 2001 inductee to the America’s Cup Hall of Fame, 2004 inductee to the Inland Lake Yachting Association Hall of Fame, 2007 inductee to the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, 2011 inductee to the National Sailing Hall of Fame and a 2015 inductee to the World Sailing Hall of Fame. Buddy currently resides in Fontana, Wisconsin and is married to Gloria, has one daughter, Laura, and two sons, Harry and Hans.
Buddy Melges was inducted into the Badger Wall of Fame in 2018.
Greg Mulloy '71
Greg Mulloy, Class of 1971, earned a total of ten varsity letters during his career at Badger High School. He was a three-year letter winner in track and a two-year letter winner in football. The swimming pool is where Greg truly shined, earning four varsity letters. He was a four-time sectional champion in the 100-yard butterfly. He finished 5th at state his sophomore year, 2nd at state his junior year and was crowned state champion in the 100-yard butterfly his senior year.
Greg was also selected as a High School All-American and as the Outstanding Senior Athlete his final year. Upon graduation, he earned a four-year swimming scholarship to Northern Illinois University.

Jack McLean '61
Jack McLean, Class of 1961, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and track earning ten varsity letters during his Badger High School career. He was a three-time letter winner in football and track. He earned four varsity letters in basketball and was a two-time 1st Team All-Conference player. His teams won conference titles in basketball his sophomore and senior year, while finishing runner-up his junior year. He also earned All-State Honorable Mention status in both his junior and senior years. During his junior year in track, he was the conference champion in the high hurdles. Football is where Jack truly made a name for himself. He was named team MVP both his junior and senior year at Badger, along with being named to the All-State Honorable Mention team his senior year. He was also selected to the All-Conference team during his junior and senior year. After graduation, Jack attended Dartmouth College. He was a starter on the football team his sophomore, junior and senior year . After his senior season, he was named team MVP and was selected to the 1st Team All-Ivy League team. While at Dartmouth, the Big Green won two conference championships.

Ian Peterson '00
Ian Peterson, Class of 2000, participated in football, wrestling and track in each of his four years at Badger High School. He was a three-year letter winner and also a three-year defensive team captain in football.
Peterson was a 1st team all-conference selection on offense and defense for each of the three years that he was a starter on the football team. He was also an All-State selection his senior year on both offense and defense, In wrestling, Peterson was a two-year letter winner and a conference champion and sectional qualifier his senior year. In track and field Peterson was not only a conference champion in both the discus and shot put, but he was crowned the WIAA State Champion in the discus throw his senior year with a throw of 166'10". He was a four-year letter winner in track and field as well.
Ian Peterson currently resides in Genoa City.

Lana (Wieseman) Poshepny '12
Lana (Wieseman) Poshepny, Class of 2012, was a three-sport standout in golf, basketball, and track and field. Lana earned an impressive nine varsity letters during her Badger High School career. In golf, she earned three varsity letters and was a member of the 2010 Conference Championship team. As a member of the track team, Lana earned three varsity letters and was a member of both the 2010 and 2012 Conference Championship teams. Lana was an exceptional contributor to the Lady Badger basketball program and finished her career as Badger’s 3rd all-time leading scorer with 1035 points. She was a two-time 1 st Team All-Conference selection and was named the 2012 Southern Lakes Conference Player of the Year. Also as a senior, Lana was selected to the 2012 WBCA All-Star game and was a player on the Academic All-State team. She was the recipient of the Jane Clausen Award for Badger’s most outstanding athlete her senior year as well.
Lana went on to have an outstanding basketball career at Beloit College. She was a two-time 1 st Team All-Conference selection and in her final year, she was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Year. She is the all-time leading scorer at Beloit College with 1639 career points. Lana also holds three school records in single game points scored, single season points scored, and most free throws made in a career.

Gary Ruch '82
Gary Ruch, Class of 1982, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and baseball, earning eight varsity letters during his Badger High School career. He was a two-time letterwinner in football and a three-time letterwinner in baseball. Gary was named to the second team All-Conference baseball squad his senior year. Basketball was where Gary truly made a name for himself in Southeastern Wisconsin. He was a member of the 1982 State Tournament basketball team and was selected to play in the State All-Star Game during his senior campaign. Gary was a three-time letterwinner in basketball at Badger and was named to the Southern Lakes All-Conference team during his sophomore, junior and senior years. During his senior year, he was selected as the Conference Player of the Year and still remains one of the top career point leaders in Badger basketball history. Gary went on to play college basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
He was named Outstanding Senior Athlete during his final year.

Emily Russart '10
Emily Russart, Class of 2010, is the measure for success in high school swimming. Her accomplishments in the pool span her entire high school career and are significant in number. Emily was a four year letter winner and a 3 time team MVP. Emily won her first state title as a sophomore in the 100 yard breaststroke, at the same time setting a new WIAA record in the event. During her junior year Emily won 2 WIAA state titles, again in the 100 yard breaststroke and in the 200 yard medley relay. At the same meet she finished 4th in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 7th in the 200 yard individual medley. She was named to the WIAA All-State team in 4 different events, as well as earning the 2008 Southern Lakes Conferences Athlete of the Year Award. She concluded her high school swimming career with a 3rd consecutive WIAA State title in the 100 yard breaststroke, in the process breaking her previous state record in the event. She also finished 2nd, 3rd, and 6th in other events at the 2009 WIAA State Swim Meet. Emily continues to hold the Southern Lakes Conference record in the 100 yard breaststroke, the 200 yard individual medley, and the 200 yard medley relay. Her success in the pool earned her a qualifying spot for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke. Emily attended Northwestern University on a swimming scholarship, and finished her academic career with a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Nursing. Emily currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin.

Joel Schenk '91
Joel Schenk, Class of 1991, was a three-sport standout in football, wrestling, and track while attending Badger High School. He earned 3 varsity letters in football, 3 varsity letters in wrestling and 4 varsity letters in track. Joel was selected 1st Team All-Conference in football during each his junior and senior years. In 1989, he was an All-Conference defensive line selection. His senior year he was selected to the All-Conference 1st team as an offensive and defensive lineman and was named the team captain. Joel was also an All-Area and All-State offensive and defensive line selection during his final year at Badger. His success on the football field culminated in his selection to the Shrine Bowl following his senior season. In wrestling, he was a conference champion in 1990 and a co-captain for two seasons. Joel later went on to play college football at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater. He was a four-year starter in college and WSUC 1st Team All-Conference selection in 1994 and 1995. He was selected as the Glenn Willis Outstanding Lineman in 1995. Joel currently resides in Janesville, WI.

Jerry Schumacher '54
Jerry Schumacher, Class of 1954, participated in football, basketball and baseball in each of his four years at Lake Geneva High School. He was a starter for all three sports during his junior and senior years, leading the football team his senior year to a perfect 10-0 record and earning a second team all-conference selection. It was in basketball where Schumacher truly excelled. In his final year playing for the Lake Geneva High School Resorters, the basketball team finished with an 18-2 record. The team dropped only the first and last games of the year, losing to Beloit, the eventual state champions, in the WIAA playoffs. Schumacher led the team in scoring with 329 points that year and was selected to the Southern Lakes Conference 1st Team and was a 1st Team All-Tournament selection. he was also team captain for that final season. Jerry received a basketball scholarship from Carthage College where he started his freshman year. As of 2015, Jerry resides in Paris, Texas.

Tim Schneider '82
Tim Schneider, Class of 1982, was a two-time letterwinner in football, two-time letterwinner in basketball, and four-time letter winner in tennis. Tim’s versatility was demonstrated first in football, where he played nine different positions his senior year. He was a participant in the 1982 Class A State Tennis Tournament in doubles, while also being the number 1 seed in 3 singles at the conference meet earlier in the season. Tim was a member of the 1982 state tournament basketball team and was named to the WIAA Class A All-Tournament team that year. He was also named to the Southern Lakes All-Conference team, the 1982 Academic All-State team, and was selected to the Associated Press 4th Team All State squad. Tim also holds the Badger basketball record for most points scored in a single season. During his senior season, he scored 577 points.

Tom Schinke '64
Tom Schinke, Class of 1964, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and baseball, earning eight varsity letters during his high school career. A four-year letter winner in baseball and a two year letter winner in both football and basketball, he was named captain of all three sports his senior year and was selected to the 1st team all-conference squad in football and baseball. Tom was also selected by the coaches as the Outstanding Senior Athlete at Badger High School. Upon graduation, he played football and baseball at University of Wisconsin-Madison. After walking on at the UW in football his freshmen year, he was rewarded with a full athletic scholarship for his final three years. During his football career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tom was a three year letter winner, while leading the team in scoring, interceptions, punt return yardage and kick return yardage during both the 1966 and 1967 seasons. He was selected to the 2nd Team All-Big Ten squad and earned All-American Honorable Mention honors during his senior season. Tom was also selected to the All-Big Ten 1st Team in baseball in 1968, as he lead the UW baseball team in runs scored, triples and homeruns. He was also selected to the Topps 1st Team All-American baseball squad his senior year. While at UW, Tom earned a total of 5 varsity letters in football and baseball.

Robert Stark '61
Robert Stark, Class of 1961, was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and baseball, earning seven varsity letters during his Badger High School career. He was a starter in all three sports his junior and senior year. During his senior year, the football, basketball and baseball teams all won conference championships. He was named to the first team All-Southern Lakes squad his senior year in football. Upon graduation, Robert earned six varsity letters in just two years at Beloit College. His sophomore year, he started on the football, basketball and baseball teams. After two years, he transferred to Northern Illinois University and earned two letters in football and one in basketball. During his senior year in football, he was named NIU’ s MVP and was a first team All-Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection. He was the leading Illinois collegiate receiver and ranked in the top ten in the nation. Robert went on to play two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Hartford Charter Oaks and Chicago Bears.

Braden Tice '10
Braden Tice, Class of 2010, is recognized as one of the finest two-sport athletes in Badger history. Braden was a 3 year varsity starter on the gridiron and a 4 year varsity starter on the hardcourt. As a football player, Braden was a 3 time Southern Lakes 1st Team All Conference defensive back, 2 time All County, 2 time All Region and 2 time 1st Team All State defensive back. He still holds the Badger High School football record with 27 total varsity takeaways. In basketball, Braden was a 4 year starter and 4 year letterwinner. During those 4 years, he was a 3 time Southern Lakes All Conference performer, 2 time All County selection and named to the All Region team during his senior year leading the team to the WIAA State Tournament in Madison. Braden continued his athletic career at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he was a 4 year member of the men’s basketball team, starting every game during his sophomore through senior year. He had a collegiate high 24 points against UW-Eau Claire during the 2012-13 season. Braden graduated from La Crosse with a degree in physical and health education and continues to give back to Badger High School as a physical education teacher. Braden currently resides in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
