Academic Bowl
Each year, a selection of Badger's top academic students are offered the prestigious opportunity to compete as part of a 20-person team at the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Bowl. The Academic Bowl competition includes individual assessments in the content areas of social studies, science, math, and language arts, and an oral team event that includes the additional category of Current Events. The top three schools in the conference are determined by the combined scores of all competitions and competitors and awarded by place. Students may also be recognized with medals for outstanding individual achievement.

Alternative Strings
Alternative Strings is an extracurricular for any student to play a string instrument in an orchestral ensemble. In this club we will explore many varieties of music ranging from jazz and rock, to fiddle and classical music. Students in this club will be expected to perform at select orchestra concerts and other musical events.

Automotive Competitions
Badger students enrolled in an Automotive Class have the ability to participate in competitions that test their knowledge and skills against students across the state, nation and world to win tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships, tools, clothing and bragging rights that help you build your resume. Students can participate in the Skills USA Competition sponsored by The Wisconsin Auto and Truck Dealers Association. Students can compete in Auto, Diesel, Motorcycle, Marine, Collision Repair and Power Equipment Technology. Seniors can also compete in The Technicians of Tomorrow Competition sponsored by The Automobile Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee. Timeframe: November to June

Book Club
Book Club is open to all Badger students and staff who like to read and discuss books with other students and teachers. Book Club schedule is very flexible and can meet the needs of most students with meetings held before or after school. Book selection is completed together and includes trending titles and authors from varying genres. Information regarding Book Club and sign-up is sent to students via email and announcements in mid-September.

Bowling Club
Bowling Club is open to any student with an interest in competitive bowling. Practice is held weekly at Lake Geneva Lanes & matches are held approximately once per week on week nights. There is an annual fee of no less than $90.00 & students are required to travel to Stoughton, Janesville, Beloit, Monroe & Clinton for competitions. Transportation is NOT provided by the high school as this is a club activity, so parents should be aware that transport will need to be provided by student/parent to matches. Students will be featured in the annual yearbook & may letter in the sport, but it is NOT a school sanctioned sport. Club members fundraise to offset their cost. Students are EXPECTED to participate in fundraising activities in order to make money for the club. Timeframe: Tryouts in October. Season: October - February.

Junior Class
Assist the Junior class and often act on their behalf in helping to plan/organize major school events. For example, advisors hold planning meetings for Juniors and help them through the process of creating and building their Homecoming Floats. In addition, Junior Class Advisors play a very significant role in planning the Junior Prom. Advisors are in charge of everything including contacting and booking the venue, hiring a DJ and photographer, ticket sales and promotion, all aspects of purchasing, and budgeting, Prom Court voting and providing chaperones and attendants.

Combining Cultures Club
The name, "Combining Cultures" says it all. Our club helps students explore other cultures other than their own. We are the only high school Latin dance company in the state of WI. Joining this club will allow you to meet and socialize with other students as well as learn how to dance salsa and bachata. Started in 2003, this club has had the opportunity to attend the Chicago International Salsa Congress to take classes taught by renowned professional salsa instructors. Combining Cultures will also be going on their 12th year in a row of performing at the Chicago Congress. It is an excellent way to meet new friends and discover the diversity that surrounds us all. Creative Writing Festival
Every November, writing students are invited to participate in the High School Creative Writing Festival at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Approximately 700 students and teachers participate in this day of “stimulating exposure to the writing of their peers and the chance to hear their work evaluated by professional writers in a college setting.”

DECA
DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Our student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
Students gain experience in these areas through travel, organizing events such as the holiday drive & talent show, competition at the district, state & international levels as well as the operation of Bucky’s Den (Badger’s school store). Funds raised through the store and events are used to help offset costs as well as the use of sales projects. All students in all grades are encouraged to join. Students must be enrolled in a one-semester business course (each school year) to be eligible for competition.

Destination Imagination
Drama Club
Any student interested in theater may join. Meeting are once a monthly, typically on a Thursday and are either from 6:00-7:00 pm or 3:00-4:00 pm depending on the month. Economics
Economics Club is an organization which is designed to prepare participants for the Wi Economics Challenge and the DECA state qualifying tests. The club members take practice tests, discuss current economic issues, and read and discuss personal finance materials. The club meets on Thursdays at 7:00 a.m. and Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. in the room 150. The club officially starts on the first Thursday of 2nd semester. Everyone is welcome.

Environmental Club
The Badger Environmental Club aims to empower high school students through research, advocacy, and hands-on experience to conserve Geneva Lake and the surrounding community for future generations. Activities include seed harvesting for restoration projects, water quality testing, clean-up of our local waterways, implementation of environmentally friendly waste management practices, and community outreach and education projects regarding sustainability and the preservation of our planet!

Exchange Student Coordinator
The exchange student coordinator functions as a liaison for the students, their host families, the host companies, and the school. Additionally the coordinator helps Badger students find scholarship opportunities offered through different exchange programs and companies. If students are interested in hosting a student for the year, semester, or summer, the exchange student coordinator is their contact person.

FCCLA- Family, Career & Community Leaders of America
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a dynamic and effective national student organization. FCCLA helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education. Student members may compete in various STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events such as hospitality, culinary arts, baking and pastry, food garnish and presentation, fashion and housing displays, child care, and entrepreneurship to name a few. Students participate in state and national meetings with other student members from around the country. Students must be enrolled in a FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) related class during one semester of the eligible year of participation.

Forensics
High School Forensics is competitive public speaking. Tournaments are typically on Saturdays with practices/feedback sessions held once a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, OR Thursday) after school. Team members compete in one category (16 offered) in the areas of in-formative/persuasive speaking, acting, and interpretive reading. Badger High School always fields a large and successful team and attends both WISDAA and WFCA sponsored events. Timeframe: Speech category selection and initial preparation begins in mid-December. Tournament season (6-8 on average) runs from late-January to start of April.

French Club
The French Club - Le Cercle français - is open to anyone studying French or anyone interested in the cultures of the French-speaking world. The French Club sponsors fun activities including French film nights, cheese-tastings, crêpe parties, concerts, plays, games and competitions, and immersion evenings. The French Club sponsors scholarships for post-secondary French coursework, and grants for students who study abroad. Timeframe: September—May.

Global Scholars Program (GSP)
Global Scholars Program (GSP) is an honors program for students who pursue an internationally-focused course of study throughout their years at BHS. The requirements include four years of a world language and other internationally-focused coursework, a 20-hour service project, a variety of extracurricular activities, and reflections on books, film and other media that have a globally-minded focus.

GSA Genders & Sexualities Alliance
Badger GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance or Genders & Sexualities Alliance) is open to all students. We provide a safe LGBTQ- inclusive place for students to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, and work to end homophobia and transphobia. We are here to create a platform for you to use your voice and lift up other voices to better our community and society. Our focus is to ensure that all students have equal opportunities, receive fair treatment and feel safe in our classrooms, school, and community, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, lifestyle choices, or any other reason for which a person might face discrimination or intolerance. We will do our part to practice kindness. We offer educational support for students and adults to foster an understanding and appreciation for people from all walks of life. HOSA is a global student-led organization with a chapter at Badger. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. This service club is sponsored by the Lake Geneva Rotary Club and Badger High. Students will participate in local community service projects, support global humanitarian service projects and take a leadership role within Badger High School. Link Crew
Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, this proven high school transition program trains mentors from our Badger junior and senior classes to be Link Crew Leaders. As positive role models, Link Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.

Mock Trial
The Mock Trial team prepares to argue both sides of a hypothetical court case prepared and sponsored by the Wisconsin State Bar. The competition includes 8-12 other area schools in a Regional competition in February and the winner advances to the State competition in March in Madison. Local attorneys and judges serve as judges. Participating on the team is a wonderful way to hone analytical, critical thinking, and acting skills. Timeframe: September to March

Model United Nations
Model United Nations club allows students the opportunity to enhance their research, writing, and oratory skills through preparation and participation in different Wisconsin High School Model United Nations simulations. Students will attend at least 2 simulations a year of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform a delegate role for a particular country while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health, and more. Model UN is a perfect stepping stone for students interested in careers in international affairs, diplomacy, the foreign service, humanitarian work, and more internationally-oriented fields. Badger Model UN club participates in a Fall simulation at Carthage College and a Spring simulation at either UW-Madison or UW-Milwaukee. Timeframe: January to March

Morgan's Message
A new club at Badger that is specific to athletes. This club is called Morgan’s Message, and its main idea is fighting the stigma around mental health in athletes. We would love your participation to help get this club off the ground as it is an uprising concern with teenage athletes.

Musical
Auditions for the All-School Musical are open to all interested students. Rehearsals run for about 10 weeks beginning in January & culminating in a full-length production in mid-March. Students are expected to be willing to learn to sing, dance, & develop a character. Students may be required to purchase personal make-up kits & appropriate shoes for performance (approximately $55.) Pit orchestra & crew positions are also available for capable, interested students. The musical is part of the Jerry Awards, a state wide recognition program for musical theater, which sends professional evaluators to adjudicate the final performance. The production & performers may be nominated for State wide Awards & possible scholar-ship opportunity. Timeframe: January to March.

NHS- National Honor Society
The Badger Chapter of the National Honor Society includes juniors and seniors who excel in the areas of leadership, scholarship, character, and service. The application process begins the day after Thanksgiving and ends the Friday after Semester 1 final exams. In order to qualify for membership, a student must be a sophomore or junior with a minimum cumulative 3.6 GPA. Interested students will complete an application that involves both objective demographic information and subjective replies to short answer questions on the applicant's scholarship, service, leadership, and character; it also includes three letters of recommendation from appropriate parties. Applications will be read during the first four weeks of Quarter 3 by the Faculty Council. Applicants will be advised over Spring Break if they have been accepted into the organization. A formal induction ceremony is held in May or June, based on calendar availability.
It should be noted that this group has up to twice monthly required meetings, participates in numerous school events, requires individual service projects, and works extensively as a larger body on one or more community service projects each year. It should be seen as a year-long activity of considerable commitment.

One Act Play Competition
Each fall, the Theater Department participates in the Wisconsin One Act Play Competition - the only play competition in the State. The 40 minute play is open to all interested students and rehearses usually once or twice a week in the evening September - October. Students who are involved in other activities and cannot participate in other performances throughout the year (musical and plays) are encouraged to participate and audition. Auditions are typically held in late May or Early September. Productions range from comedy to children's theater to drama.

Publishing Club (Unspoken Truth)
The Unspoken is produced by the Publishing Club, founded in January of 2024. We are a small group of Badger High School writers and creatives who meet after school on Tuesdays. The Publishing Club believes that the production and publication of our writing and art allows us to be recognized-- to be heard. Skills USA
SkillsUSA is a national youth professional organization that serves career-training students at Badger High School. The mission of the Badger SkillsUSA Chapter is to emphasize total quality, high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education and pride in the dignity of work. Students compete in areas that go along with Technology Education Classes they take at Badger. Areas include Automotive, Cabinet Making, Construction, Collision Repair, Computer repair, Desk Top Publishing, Diesel, Electronics, Machining, Marine Service, Motorcycle, Networking, Power Equipment Technology, Printing, Robotics, Technical drawing, Video production and Welding. SkillsUSA competitive events allow student members an opportunity to showcase their occupational/technical skill development to standards established by business and industry. Spanish Club & Spanish NHS
Student Council & Student Government
The Badger High School Student Council is open to all high school students. If you decide to run for a class or council executive position you will also need to fill out the application and win the nomination. Student Council Officers and class officers are elected from those students who have completed the entry requirements. The Student Council serves as the student governing body and links students to the staff and to the community. It sponsors Homecoming Week plus other activities throughout the year including three Blood Drives, Pep Assemblies and other activities to promote school spirit, and sense of community.

Trap Team
The Badger Trap Team is a fun and competitive team that competes in the discipline of American Trap in the Scholastic Clay Target Program. The SCTP provides student athletes with a supportive environment where shooting sports serve as a catalyst for teaching life lesson and skills that emphasize positive character traits and values. The team competes in the Southeast WI Youth Trap Shooting Conference consisting of 14 area high school teams and is led by certified and credentialed adult volunteer coaches. Practices start in February and the Conference Shoot Out, State Championship, and National Championships occur in June and mid-July. Team members range in experience from beginners who have never shot previously to very experienced shooters. The athletes learn gun safety, safe firearm handling, and become better shooters through a lot of hard work and practice. Team members do not need to have a gun to compete and do not need prior shooting experience, however the Wis. DNR Hunter Safety course prior to joining the team is highly recommended. Up & Out
Up & Out is a student-led organization dedicated to philanthropy, with a focus on students helping fellow students. Our members go above and beyond to support classmates in need, volunteering their time and raising funds. The resources gathered are used to ensure all students have what they need to thrive as Badgers, both academically and in life. We raise funds through themed fundraisers to not only bring up school spirit and help others out. Every dollar raised goes back into our school and community, making Badger a better place for everyone.

Visual Arts Competition
The Visual Arts Competition is an opportunity for students who are intensely interested in art. Students currently taking upper-level art classes are invited by the art instructors to participate in a variety of regional, state and national art competitions. Students work to create original works of art in the areas of drawing, painting, illustration, photography, art metals and jewelry, stained glass, ceramics, pottery, and sculpture. Finished works are selected and submitted to multiple art competitions. These competitions offer recognition, awards, and also include scholarship opportunities.
